I haven’t been updating this site and doing much research, as I have been busy working on other projects. I actually own a few websites:

www.VWClubOfHawaii.com - Official Website of the VW Club of Hawaii
www.HawaiiCarShows.com - Not updated for a while, as I haven’t gone to many car shows lately.
www.AirlineJargon.com - New Site I’m working on. I work in the airline industry, and thought this might be cool.

The VW Club of Hawaii website is my main focus. I decided to make the site for the club because my best friend is a member of the club. On September 1, 2007 I attended the VW Club of Hawaii annual Food Bank and Car Show, later that same evening, I launched the VWClubOfHawaii.com website with a simple CSS Template and a gallery.

I didn’t have any stats setup until about a month later; therefore, I have no idea how many people visited the site during the first month. I do know that traffic was steady with about 25 unique visitors per day after the first month. Today, more club members know about the site and even a few out of state car clubs know about the site, and my unique visitor count is about 100 unique visitors per day. I’m hoping to get traffic to around 1000 unique visitors per day so that I can charge a higher premium for my 125×125 ad space.

I’m also helping the Air Cargo Association of Hawaii redo their website. Click here to see the old Air Cargo Association website. The association needed an easy method to make updates to their site. I thought Wordpress would be perfect for them as it’s very easy to use, and I use Wordpress a lot. This started out as something just for fun to practice my use of Wordpress, but the association recently asked me to be their official Webmaster. I still work for free, but I like the title and backing of the association.

I am looking to change the design of this site for 2009. I don’t really like the layout. The columns don’t really support 125×125 banner ads. I’m looking for something that has a sidebar that can accomodate 2 columns of 125×125 banners and a large footer area. I’m not sure if I want the sidebar on the left or the right. Very Important: The new theme has to be free!

Anybody got any ideas, please leave me a comment.

Here is an update for the month of November.

Univera
Monthly Cost = $300
Last Check = $0
My wife and I are seriously considering dropping this opportunity as we do NOT do any advertising or marketing for this opportunity. I do drink the product, but I could probably get the same results by exercising and eating healthier.

I thought my wife was going to actually give this opportunity a try, but she’s not doing anything. No marketing at all.

MyJetStreamHawaii
Xango/MyJetStream
Monthly Cost = $269.47
Last Check = $78 ($28 commission + $50 Sold a couple Bottles of Xango Locally)
I stopped actively marketing Xango/MyJetStream. My ads still appear in a few banner/traffic exchanges, but that’s about it. I did join a monthly training program called 180DaysToGreatness. I was lucky and got in when the program was on sale; therefore, I pay less than $10 per month. The regular price is almost $100 per month. The problem is I don’t follow the program as closely as I should. Maybe the program is priced high so people put more effort into the program? I know I’m not putting much effort into the program because I didn’t spend that much…shame on me!
EyeEarn by driving my car!
EyeEarn/SFI
Monthly Cost = $29.95
Last Check = $19.32
EyeEarn/SFI continues to be my best earner (cost vs. profit) and the easiest program to market. I do NOT do any paid advertising for this program. My ads appear in only traffic/banner exchanges and on this blog. I don’t get many hits on the traffic/banner exchanges and I don’t get much hits to this site. For the amount of effort and work I put into this program, I think I’m getting a pretty good return.
MyWorldPlus - The most powerful discount savings and cash back rewards program in the world!
MyWorldPlus
Monthly Cost = $19.95
Last Check = $2.80
I haven’t tried using the discount card for this program, and I haven’t done much advertising, so obviously I’m not making much money (no sign ups). I’m going to start promoting this program on a few traffic/banner exchanges for one month. If I don’t see any results, this program will be dropped. To be honest with you, I found a better discount book locally. It’s only $19.95 for a 1 year membership and there’s a wider range of vendors and a better discount.

Success University
Monthly Cost = $57.90
Last Check = $0
After much consideration, I dropped out of Success University. Advertising on a major site and a nationwide home business magazine I got only a handful of prospects, but no sign-ups. I actually spent $99 on the magazine ad, but my $99 was refunded to me because I caught an error in another ad. :)

The only program I recommend for other noobs like me is EyeEarn/SFI. The risk is very low at only $20 to start and $29.95 a month, and the results are almost immediate.

Of course my results are unique to me, but so far EyeEarn has shown the best rate of return for the amount of work that I actually put into the program. I get less than 150 visitors per month for this site, and my banners only appear on the TrafficSwarm exchange, and those ads get less than 100 clicks per month. I think I’m doing pretty good for the amount of traffic I am generating.

Project PayDay
I decided to give Project PayDay a try again.

Project PayDay is video tutorial on how to make money at a website called FreeLunchRoom.com. You really don’t need the video, as some folks on FreeLunchRoom.com are more than willing to walk a new person step by step through the entire process.

NOTE: The following information is in another post. If you read that post, you can probably skip this information and go directly to The Pitfalls of Project PayDay below.

The Basics of FreeLunchRoom.com:
Companies offer cash or gifts for referrals/sign-ups.
Person A agrees to pay Person B a fee if they sign-up using their referral link.
Once Person A receives the required number of sign-ups, the company pays out (in cash or a product).

How does this work?
Person A signs up for an offer to receive $100 for 3 referrals.
Person A offers 3 person B, C, and D $20 each to sign-up using their referral.
Person B, C, and D make $20 each.
Person A paid $60 to make $100.
You can either be Person A, BCD, or you can do both.

The details are in the Project PayDay video tutorial.

You’ve probably come across this type of offer before, where a company offers a FREE Xbox 360 for signing up with a few companies. This is basically the same concept, but with a twist of paying others to sign-up.

The Pitfalls of Project PayDay:
Pitfall 1 - You don’t need Project PayDay at all to make money. The video tutorial is great, but you don’t really need it. I got the basic idea from the Project PayDay video tutorial, but the person I selected to do business with on FreeLunchRoom.com walked me through the entire process.

Pitfall 2 - This Pitfall is not really the fault of Project Payday or FreeLunchRoom, it’s more my fault and the fault of the company I selected to sign-up with. I contacted my mentor and said I wanted to try again. She offered me a site, and I proceeded to look for a product I was interested in trying.

This time was a little different. I needed one point to qualify, and there were offers ranging from .10 points to .75 points. There were no one point offers. The payment I was to receive was $28. I chose one item for $6.99 at .75 points (30 day trial offer to renew at $89.95/month) and I chose another FREE item for .25 points (15 day trial offer to renew at $29.95/month).

I set up the deal with my Mentor and proceed to sign-up. Offer 1 wasn’t working and offer 2 was linked to another program I already tried, so I had to choose new offers. I chose 4 offers at .25 points each. Two offers were FREE during the trial period, one was $3.99, and the other was $6.99.

The $3.99 offer was only for a 14 day trial and I didn’t receive the product until the 14th day. When I read the terms and conditions again I reaized I had to cancel 2 days prior to the end of the trial or be charged a $36.95 monthly fee. On top of that, I had to send back any unused product! Fortunately, I wrote an email complaint to the company and they cancelled my order on the 15th day with no charges and they didn’t ask me to return the product. I believe this offer was for MySlimTea.

The $6.99 offer had additional terms and conditions and required a telephone call to cancel. This offer automatically enrolled me into two other programs, and if I did not cancel those programs before the trial end, I would be charged $29.95/month and $8.50/month for the additional programs and $89.31/month for the original program I signed up with. The telephone numbers provided did not work. I was finally able to call a number that allowed me to cancel both secondary programs. This representative informed me that the toll-free number for the original program was not working, but they had a secondary non-toll-free (PAID) number. I called that number and waited on hold for about 10 minutes. It seemed like longer, but because I work in a call center I was actually paying attention to the time. I believe this offer was for Extreme Acai Berry or EAB for short.

Todays Lesson: READ THE FINE PRINT!

Yes, I already had this lesson once before, but it’s a very important message.

I am currently promoting several online opportunities with the hopes that a few of them will be successful.

Univera
Monthly Cost = $300
Last Check = $0
This is my wife’s MLM venture. She does NOT actively promote Univera. We do not spend any money on advertising. We simply “Gift” products to a few people every once in a while.

MyJetStreamHawaii
Xango/MyJetStream
Monthly Cost = $269.47
Last Check = $78 ($28 commission + $50 Sold a couple Bottles of Xango Locally)
This is my main business. I have spent hundreds of dollars promoting MyJetStream/Xango and have only received one sign-up so far. MyJetStreamHawaii ads are currently on this site and a few traffic exchanges. I decided to stop buying into the advertising coop as I haven’t had a really good return on investment.

EyeEarn by driving my car!
EyeEarn/SFI
Monthly Cost = $29.95
Last Check = $8.98
I have not spent any money advertising this program, but this opportunity has the highest rate of return so far. The ad for EyeEarn appears on this site and a few traffic exchanges.

MyWorldPlus - The most powerful discount savings and cash back rewards program in the world!
MyWorldPlus
Monthly Cost = $19.95
Last Check = $2.80
I have not spent any money advertising this program. In fact, the only link I have on the Internet for this program appears on this site. The $2.80 is strictly from “Vertical Acceleration” or a single downline leg. Not one person in my downline was personally sponsored by me (Not yet at least). The cool thing about this opportunity is the discount card. I just received my card yesterday and will be seeing if the card works this weekend.

Success University
Monthly Cost = $57.90
Last Check = $0
I spent $100 to place a banner on CWAHM.com. I received 5 leads but no sign-ups yet.

As you can see, some of the business opportunities I am trying require very little work and very little advertising. I would suggest starting with one of these smaller programs before stepping into something more costly such as Univera or Xango/MyJetStream.

I will be running ads on my site shortly to recoup my advertising efforts, and I may dabble in some affiliate marketing.

Today’s Lesson: If you are looking at a MLM / Network Marketing opportunity, try a low cost opportunity first to get your feet wet, then step up to more costly opportunities.

A few weeks ago Franco from Chavesnet.com, the person who designed my logo, sent me a link for MyWorldPlus. He asked me to check it out, as he wasn’t sure if he should join and become a member.

Make Money Online with MyWorldPlus!

I logged into his account and started browsing. MyWorldPlus uses a single downline payment model with infinity bonuses. Payment percentages are according to rank and your rank is determined by how many people you have personally enrolled. The more people you enroll, the higher your rank, the higher your percentage.

So what do members get for their MyWorldPlus membership?

Discount Membership Card - “MyWordPLUS Discount Membership Card that can be used to save money at over 175,000 retail merchants WORLDWIDE!”

A search option is available to check what discounts are available in your area.

Coupons - “Each month, you will be able to print out coupons from Brand Name manufacturers that you can use at any of over 100,000 grocery stores around the country!”

Cash Back Shopping - “Each month, you will be able to print out coupons from Brand Name manufacturers that you can use at any of over 100,000 grocery stores around the country!”

NOTE: Items in quotes above were copied directly from the MyWorldPlus website.

The Cost
There are actually three options available, but the best deal is option 3 which is $19.95/month plus a $50 sign-up fee.

The sales pitch is obvious, the potential amount you could save from the discounts and cashback program can greatly offset the cost of the membership.

I told Franco that I would join under him if he joined, as I wanted to see how valuable the discounts really were.

If you just want to check it out, just submit your email using any of my links above or the link below.
